The International Council of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (ICCPR) is pleased to open a call for applications for ICCPR CRFC scholarships to support healthcare providers and trainees from multiple disciplines in their development. The scholarship would cover the entire application fee.
The scholarships are funded by SOLVE-CHD National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia Synergy Grant led by Professor Julie Redfern.
ABOUT ICCPR CRFC:
The goal of the ICCPR CRFC program is to augment capacity for cardiac rehabilitation (CR) delivery around the globe. This online course educates individuals on how to deliver all the core CR components through 8 modules, in accordance with ICCPR’s consensus statement on CR delivery in low-resource settings. Passing the multiple choice exam demonstrates competence in the foundations of CR delivery and are committed to the basic CR practice standards espoused in the component modules. You can find more details here.
Please note: for CR programs aiming to become ICCPR certified, one team member must have earned the CRFC designation. Therefore, this is an excellent opportunity to meet this requirement. Find more information here.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must be: (1) a healthcare provider in a CR-related profession (e.g., kinesiology, physiotherapy, nursing, medicine, pharmacy, occupational therapy, physician assistant), (2) a formal trainee/student intending to work in the CR setting, (3) have some form of tie to ICCPR, and (4) follow the selection criteria below. Note priority will be given to Indigenous peoples, followed by those living in a low or middle-income country (LMIC; as defined by the World Bank here).
Please note: to enroll in the certification course, applicants require a minimum education of 12 years (i.e., high school or equivalent) and 500 hours experience (includes volunteering) in the healthcare field.
SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION PROCESS:
Based on the following criteria, 20 applicants will be funded:
1. Proof of working in CR or training in a discipline represented in CR (and number of hours experience) through for example a supporting letter or screenshot, with specification of institution (include website).
2. Provide a photo and 100-word justification or brief video that you agree we may share on our social media channels on how the course will benefit you in your context.
3. If you live in a country that is not yet affiliated with ICCPR through an association or friend (see list here), provide link to website of most relevant CR-related association in your country and be sure you have signed up for our email distribution list: https://globalcardiacrehab.com/ICCPR-News/. (note: please do not let this be an obstacle to applying. Email globalcardiacrehab@gmail.com with any queries about how this can be met, as the goal is to be inclusive).
4. If relevant, provide documentation of Indigenous background (we will also prioritize those whose country is an LMIC) to support prioritization of applications.
